What is Answer Desk
Answer Desk is a WordPress plugin that puts a support chat on your site. The chat answers visitors' questions using only the documents and pages you give it, through an AI provider you choose (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Mistral or OpenRouter). When your documents do not cover a question, it says so and gives the contact you set.
What it does
- Reads files you upload: plain text (.txt), Markdown (.md), CSV, saved web pages (.html, .htm), JSON, Word (.docx) and PDF when the PDF contains real text (not a scan).
- Imports the published pages, posts, products and other public content of your own site, and refreshes their text when you edit them.
- Builds a search index inside your WordPress database, so it finds the right paragraph even when the visitor uses different words. No extra database service is needed.
- Shows a chat button in the bottom corner of your pages, or a chat box inside a page with the
[answer_desk]shortcode. - Tells every visitor, above the first message, that they are talking to an AI. This notice cannot be switched off, only reworded.
- Keeps conversations so you can read what people asked, and deletes them automatically after the number of days you choose.
- Limits how many messages one visitor can send per hour, and optionally how many answers the whole site gives per day, so your AI bill cannot run away.
Who it is for
Shops, studios, firms and freelancers who answer the same questions again and again (delivery, returns, prices, opening hours, technical details) and want a chat that answers from their own information instead of inventing things.
How you pay for the AI
You open an account with the AI provider and paste its API key (a secret code that lets your site use that account) into the plugin. The provider bills you directly for what you use. No One Productions Digital never sees the key and adds nothing on top. See Connect an AI provider.

There is one plugin package. A licence key, or the 7-day trial, unlocks the Pro features.

Nothing is lost at the limit. Each uploaded file and each imported page counts as one document. You can add more than 5 in the free version: the extra ones are kept and indexed, and start being used in answers as soon as a licence is active, with nothing to redo.

- WordPress 6.0 or newer.
- PHP 7.4 or newer.
- An account and API key with at least one of the supported AI providers.
