Set up your first catalogue

A working catalogue takes three steps: create the filters, add the products, then put the catalogue on a page. The Product Viewer > How to use it screen shows the same three steps and ticks each one off as you complete it.

The three steps

1. Create the filters in Product Viewer > Filters. See Create filters and entries.
2. Add the products one by one in Product Viewer > New product, or import a spreadsheet from Import. See Add and manage products and Import products from a CSV file.
3. Put the catalogue on a page with the shortcode [product_viewer]. See Put the catalogue on a page.

Filters come first because each product is classified by ticking the entries of your filters. Without filters, the product screen has nothing to tick.

Try it with sample data first

If you want to see how the catalogue behaves before entering your own data:

1. Go to Product Viewer > Settings.
2. In the Tools box, click Load sample filters. This adds five filters for an equipment catalogue (Range, Function, Capacity, Field of use, Installation). Filters you already created are not touched.
3. Back in Settings > Tools, click Create sample products.
4. Put [product_viewer] on a page and open it on the site.

When you are done, click Delete sample products in the same box, and delete the sample filters you do not want from the Filters screen.

Optional: call your products by their name

In Settings > What the products are called you can set the Singular and Plural words used in the admin screens (for example Model and Models, or Machine and Machines).
