Update the plugin
Updates to Dropbox Portal arrive like those of any other plugin: WordPress shows them in Dashboard > Updates and on the Plugins page, with the usual Update now link. No licence is needed to receive updates, and the free version gets them too.
Install an update
- When a new version exists, WordPress shows a notice under Dropbox Portal on the Plugins page: "There is a new version of Dropbox Portal available."
- Click View version details to read what changed (optional).
- Click update now, or go to Dashboard > Updates, tick Dropbox Portal and click Update Plugins.
Your settings, rules, Dropbox connection and licence are kept.
Automatic updates
On the Plugins page, the Enable auto-updates link on the Dropbox Portal row works as for any plugin: WordPress then installs new versions by itself.
If no update appears
- The plugin asks our server about new versions at most once an hour. WordPress itself checks about twice a day: on Dashboard > Updates, click Check again.
- If our server cannot be reached, nothing happens and no error is shown: try again later.
- You can always install a newer zip by hand: follow Install the free version and choose Replace current with uploaded when WordPress offers it.
Do not delete the plugin to reinstall it. Deleting Dropbox Portal from the Plugins page erases its settings and the Dropbox connection from the site, and frees the licence on our server. Use update or Replace current with uploaded instead. The only exception is the old copy in the lr-dropbox-portal folder: deactivate it and delete it, your settings are restored automatically.
