Put the portal on a page

To show the portal on your site, create a page and add the shortcode [nopd_dropbox_portal]. A shortcode is a short code in square brackets that WordPress replaces with the portal when the page is displayed.

Add the shortcode to a page

1. In the WordPress admin, go to Pages > Add New Page (or open an existing page).
2. Give the page a title, for example "Reserved area".
3. In the block editor, click the + button and add a Shortcode block.
4. Type or paste [nopd_dropbox_portal] into it. You can copy it from the Put the portal on a page box at the bottom of the Dropbox Documents page, with the Copy button.
5. Click Publish.

If you use a page builder (Elementor, Divi and others), use its own "Shortcode" or "Text" element and paste the same code.

Open the page while logged in with a user who has access: you see the folder list. Logged-out visitors see "You need to sign in to view the private documents." The plugin does not add a login form: add your usual login link or form to the page, or use your membership plugin.

Attributes

Attributes are optional settings you write inside the brackets, like view="grid".

Attribute	Values	What it does
root	A rule ID, for example 3	Shows only the folder of that rule (the ID column in step 3). If omitted, the portal shows every folder the user can access. Users who cannot access that rule see the "no folder" message.
view	list (default) or grid	How files are shown. Grid is Pro: without a licence it falls back to list. With Pro, visitors can also switch view with the buttons at the top of the portal.
theme	light (default), dark or auto	Colour theme. auto follows the visitor's light or dark setting. Dark and auto are Pro: without a licence the portal stays light.
title	Any text	Title shown in the coloured bar at the top of the portal.
subtitle	Any text	Line of text under the title.
height	A size, for example 600px	Maximum height of the file list. The list then scrolls inside the portal and the column headers stay visible.

If your theme has a fixed header

Some themes keep the site header on top of the page while you scroll, and it can cover the top of the portal. Add a height, for example height="620px": only the file list scrolls, and the portal toolbar stays visible.

Page cache

The portal shows different content to each user, so the page must never be cached. The plugin tells the common cache plugins not to cache it. If you use a cache at server, proxy or CDN level (for example Cloudflare page rules or a hosting cache), exclude the portal page there too.
