Appearance and behaviour settings

The Appearance and behaviour box on the Dropbox Documents page controls which features the portal offers, its colour and the messages visitors see. Change what you need and click Save settings at the bottom.

Portal colour (Pro)

Pick the colour of the title bar and buttons with the colour picker or one of the six ready-made swatches. The small preview next to it shows the result. In the free version the portal uses the default blue.

Developers can also change the look with CSS variables, for example .lrdbp-portal { --lrdbp-accent: #002b5c; --lrdbp-radius: 6px; }.

Other settings

Setting	Default	What it does
Date format	d/m/Y H:i	How the Modified date is written, in PHP date syntax. For example m/d/Y gives 09/29/2026, d/m/Y H:i gives 29/09/2026 14:30.
Cache duration (Pro)	300 seconds	How long the folder contents are remembered before asking Dropbox again. 0 disables the cache. Higher values mean fewer calls to Dropbox but new files appear later. Maximum 86400 (one day).
Maximum download size	512 MB	Files larger than this cannot be downloaded through the portal and show a message. 0 removes the limit. Maximum 5120 MB.
Items per request	100	How many items are read from Dropbox per request, between 10 and 500. It also sets the maximum number of search results. Leave the default unless your folders are very large.
Message for logged out users	"You need to sign in to view the private documents."	Text shown to visitors who are not logged in. Leave empty to use the default.
Message for users with no folder	"No document folder is linked to your account. Contact the project manager."	Text shown to logged-in users with no matching rule. Leave empty to use the default.

Custom template (developers)

To change the HTML of the portal, copy templates/browser.php from the plugin folder to wp-content/themes/<your theme>/lr-dropbox-portal/browser.php and edit the copy. The plugin uses it automatically.
