How addresses are compared

In Redirects > Settings > How addresses are compared:

  • Capital letters do not matter (on): /Offers and /offers are the same address.
  • The final slash does not matter (on): /offers and /offers/ are the same address.
  • Parameters after the “?”: with Pass them on to the new address (the default), /old?utm_source=newsletter goes to /new?utm_source=newsletter, so campaign tracking keeps working.

A redirect written with its own parameters, such as /?p=123, applies only to that exact address and takes priority over the one without parameters. Accented and special characters can be written as they are (/caffè) or encoded (/caff%C3%A8): they are the same address.
