The 404 log
Redirects > 404 log has one row per address, not per visit: how many times it was asked, the first and the last time, and the last page that linked to it (Linked from). IP addresses and visitor data are not recorded.
- Create redirect opens the redirect form with the old address filled in. Write the new address and save: the row leaves the log and you are back on the list, ready for the next one.
- Ignore hides addresses you do not want to fix, such as a bot looking for
/wp-login.php.bak. You find them under Ignored. - Most visited and Most recent change the order.
Search engines and bots are not recorded unless you switch on Also record search engines and bots in Settings: they try thousands of addresses that never existed. Addresses not seen for 30 days are deleted once a day (up to a year with Pro).
When Linked from is a page of your own site, the best fix is to correct the link in that page; the redirect covers everybody else.
