What is Cookie Consent

Cookie Consent is a WordPress plugin that shows a cookie banner and, more importantly, stops third-party services from loading until the visitor allows them. Google Analytics, Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, YouTube, Google Maps and about fifty other services are recognised on their own.

How it works

  • Before a page leaves your server, the plugin finds the scripts, videos, maps and pixels that come from other sites and switches them off.
  • The visitor sees the banner and chooses: Accept all, Reject all or Preferences to pick single categories.
  • Only what the visitor allowed is switched back on, straight away and without reloading the page.
  • A blocked video or map shows a box with the name of the provider and a button to load it.

Because the blocking happens on the server and the restoring in the browser, it also works on sites with page caching.

Free version and Pro

Everything you need to be compliant is in the free version. Pro adds what saves time or helps in an inspection.
