Install the free version

You install Cookie Consent by uploading its zip file in your WordPress admin, then clicking Activate Plugin. It takes about two minutes.

1. Download the zip

1. Open the Cookie Consent product page and download the free version.
2. You get a file called something like nopd-cookie-consent.zip. Do not unzip it. WordPress wants the zip file itself.

2. Upload and activate

1. Log in to yoursite.com/wp-admin with an administrator account.
2. In the left menu, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin and click Upload Plugin.
3. Click Choose File, pick the zip and click Install Now.
4. Click Activate Plugin.

Where to find it

A new Cookie Consent item with a shield icon appears in the left menu. It has two entries: Banner, the main screen, and Pro licence. The main screen has six tabs: Banner, Texts, Third parties, Consent log, Settings and Pro licence.

The banner is on from the moment you activate the plugin, with safe defaults. Next step: set up the banner.
