Emails and NOP Mail

The notice to you

Every entry is sent by email to the address in Send to in the form, or to the administration email of the site when it is empty. Its subject has the name of the form and of the person; Reply in your email program answers the visitor directly.

The auto-reply

Turn on Send an auto-reply to the person who writes and the address of the first Email field receives a short standard message: thanks, the message has arrived. With Pro you write subject and text yourself (see Pro: recipients and auto-reply).

How emails leave the site

Forms sends with the email function of WordPress and has no SMTP settings of its own. Many hosts deliver that email badly or not at all: test it with Forms > Settings > Send a test email.

With NOP Mail active, the same emails leave from a real SMTP server and appear in the NOP Mail log, where you see whether each one arrived and can send it again. Forms notices NOP Mail by itself: there is nothing to set up.
