What is Google Drive Portal
Google Drive Portal shows the files of one or more Google Drive folders on a page of your WordPress site, as a private area. Only logged-in users whose WordPress role you have linked to a folder can see it. Files are browsed, previewed and downloaded through your site: the plugin never creates a public Google link.
What it does
- Connects to Google Drive with a service account (a technical Google identity that belongs to you and sees only the folders you share with it).
- Links each WordPress role (for example Subscriber, Customer or a custom role) to a Drive folder. A user sees only the folders of their own roles.
- Shows the folder on any page with a shortcode (a short code in square brackets, like
[nopd_drive_portal], that WordPress replaces with the portal). - Lets users open subfolders, follow a breadcrumb (the clickable path at the top) and download files.
- Exports Google Docs, Sheets and Slides on the fly: Word, Excel and PowerPoint for download, PDF for preview.
The plugin only reads from Drive. It never writes, renames, deletes or uploads anything. To add files to the portal, add them to the folder in Google Drive.
Who it is for
Studios, agencies, consultants, schools and shops that already keep documents in Google Drive and want to give clients, members or staff a private area on their own website, without sending Drive links around.
Free version and Pro
There is a single plugin. After installation it runs as the free version. Pro features stay visible in the admin with a Pro label, but switched off.

Requirements
- WordPress 6.2 or newer.
- PHP 7.4 or newer, with the OpenSSL extension (almost every host has it).
- A Google account and access to the Google Cloud console (free) to create the service account.
- Your hosting must allow outgoing HTTPS calls to
www.googleapis.comandoauth2.googleapis.com.
Files pass through your server. This is what keeps links private, but it uses your hosting bandwidth. You can set a maximum download size in the settings.
