Automatic redirects

With Add a redirect when a published page changes address on (in Settings, on by default), Redirects watches published content:

• Change the slug of a page, an article, a product or any public content type: the old address gets a 301 to the new one.
• Move a page under another parent page: the page and its sub-pages (up to 200) get a redirect each.
• If other redirects pointed to the old address, they now point straight to the new one: no chains of redirects.
• Change your mind and go back to the old slug: the automatic redirect from that address is removed, because there is a page there again.

Automatic redirects appear in the list with the label Automatic. You can edit, switch off or delete them like the others. Changing the permalink structure of the whole site (Settings > Permalinks) is not followed: for that, use a regular expression.
