Getting started

Popup shows messages in a window in the centre, in a box sliding in from the side or in a bar at the top or bottom of your pages. You build it in the visual editor, dragging elements into place, and choose when, where and how often it appears.

1. Install the plugin

1. Download the Popup zip from My licences. Do not unzip it.
2. In WordPress go to Plugins > Add New Plugin, click Upload Plugin, choose the zip and click Install Now, then Activate Plugin.
3. A Popup item appears in the left menu, with All popups, Statistics, Settings and Licence under it.

2. Create a popup

1. Open Popup > All popups and click one of the pictures in New popup: the popup is created at once. A new popup is always off: nobody sees it until you switch it on.
2. The screen of the popup opens with the visual editor at the top: click a text to change it, drag new elements from the left, choose the colours on the right (see The visual editor).
3. Below, choose the type, when it opens and where (see The screen of a popup), then click Save the popup.

3. Switch it on

Back in the screen of the popup, tick Active on the site and click Save the popup. A popup written in the block editor can also be switched on with Publish there: a published popup is active, a draft is off.

4. Try it

Preview on the site opens the popup at once, ignoring rules and frequency, and only you see it. To try it as a visitor, open the site in a private window: a popup you already closed is remembered by your browser.
